Modern aeroengines are facing ever stringent constraints with regard to pollutant and acoustic emissions. In this Lecture Series, a detailed review of the current aeroacoustic challenges, their modeling and mitigation actions will be review by leading experts in the field. The course will be introduced by key industrial players, depicting the trends guiding the design of future architectures, together with their consequences in terms of acoustic emissions and installation effects. The course is rather unique as all sound production mechanisms will be addressed, ranging from fan noise to combustion noise, liner optimization and subsonic/supersonic jet noise, each of these topics being treated by experts in their field. The course is primarily targeted towards scientists, PhD students or research engineers, wishing to receive a fast-track introduction to aeroengine noise including its latest modeling, design and numerical developments.

Location : von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics, Sint-Genesius-Rode (near Brussels), Belgium
