During the 9th PhD symposium, the VKI graduate students will review the doctoral research carried out in the three departments of the Institute: Aeronautics and Aerospace, Environmental and Applied Fluid Dynamics, and Turbomachinery and Propulsion.
The first-year PhD students will present a poster on their research plans and some preliminary results. The second-year students will give a 15-minute talk on their research activities and progress results followed by 5 minutes of questions. The other students will give a 20-minute talk followed by 10 minutes of questions. Prominent lecturers in three application fields of fluid dynamics will give a keynote lecture opening each day of the symposium.
The talks are organized in sessions according to the following topics: "Multiphase Flows," "Aero-Thermal Investigations in Turbomachinery," "Development of Advanced CFD and Optimization," "Noise and Aeroacoustics," "Ground and Flight Experiments," "Numerical Approach for Hypersonic and Plasma Flows," and " Stability and Transition in Hypersonic Flows."
