EVERBLUE Industry Advisory Board (IAB) meeting at VKI
Last Friday, on the 24th of November, VKI hosted the EVERBLUE Industry Advisory Board (IAB) meeting, marking a significant step forward in the groundbreaking EVERBLUE project. With financial support from VLAIO, this initiative is set to explore the intricate effects of wind on modern container ships moored in realistic, densely built port environments. The EVERBLUE project will leverage a comprehensive approach, combining wind tunnel testing at VKI, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, and dynamic mooring analyses.
In the initial phase, over 200 distinct wind tunnel tests will be conducted. The experimental test program will focus on a single container ship, representative of modern Ultra Large Container Vessels (ULCS), and will explore three different container stack configurations.
The EVERBLUE project is a collaborative effort, led by Universiteit Gent as the coordinator and powered by the expertise of the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics (VKI). The Industry Advisory Board features key partners including BRABO, Multi Engineering, Port of Antwerp – Bruges, North Sea Port, and Waterbouwkundig Labo.
VKI is honored to contribute to the EVERBLUE project, and we look forward to the valuable advancements that will emerge from this project.
