Celebrating the SMART Program Scholars at VKI!
We are delighted to share that on 29th June, we had the privilege of welcoming LaShauna Evans from JMark Services and Coit Hendley, Deputy Program Manager of the SMART Program Office to the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics.
This spring and summer, VKI is hosting 10 students from the SMART program. The SMART Scholarship is a prestigious initiative that cultivates future leaders in 24 STEM disciplines and stands as the largest education and workforce development program under the US Department of Defense STEM Program. These talented scholars receive hands-on experience at over 200 Department of Defense facilities during their internships, where they have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and shape their careers as early professionals. Department of Defense facilities are at the forefront of innovation in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, autonomy, cyber, space exploration, 5G, and other cutting-edge technology areas. The SMART scholars are gaining invaluable exposure to these fields, contributing to advancements and breakthroughs that have a profound impact on society.
We are proud to provide a platform for these promising individuals to further their growth and contribute to the field of STEM. Their presence at VKI enriches our academic environment and fostering collaboration in fluid dynamics research.
