STO-235 Lecture Series: Uncertainty Quantification in Computational Fluid Dynamics

Uncertainty QuantificationThe AVT-235 on "Uncertainty Quantification (UQ) in Computational Fluid Dynamics" was held at the von Karman Institute in Belgium from September 15-19, 2014. This lecture series covered topics from recent advances in efficient UQ algorithms, robust/reliable optimization and epistemic UQ to applications. Lectures were given by experts in the field from Academia and National Labs: Gianluca Iaccarino (Stanford University, USA), Mike Eldred (Sandia National Laboratories, USA),  Paul Constantine (Colorado School of Mines, USA), Jeroen Witteveen (Center for Mathematics and Computer Science, The Netherlands),  Pietro Marco Congedo (INRIA, France), Maarten Arnst (University of Liège, Belgium), Gert De Cooman (University of Gent, Belgium), Todd Oliver (ICES, The University of Texas at Austin, USA), Catherine Gorle (Stanford University, USA), Richard Dwight (T.U. Delft, The Netherlands), Lionel Mathelin (LIMSI - CNRS, France),   Lionel Mathelin and Olivier Lemaitre  (LIMSI - CNRS, France) and Charles Hirsch (Numeca, Belgium).

The lecture series directors were Prof. Gianluca Iaccarino and Dr. Catherine Gorlé from Stanford University and Prof. Thierry Magin from the von Karman Institute  for Fluid Dynamics. A total of thirty students and professionals attended the course. The participants were coming from Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States.
