About the Space4Launch

The von Karman Institute is pleased to host the third Spec4Relaunch PhD Day, organized by the Joint Research Institute for Space, on April 9, 2024.

Space4Relaunch is a collaborative program revolving around two of the sectors combining high accessibility of the Walloon industrial landscape, and high attractiveness to world space markets. The research promoted by this program will be carried out through a total of 30 PhD theses answering cutting-edge technological challenges towards adequate Technology Level Readiness for industrial needs in the spatial sector.

The Third PhD Day is organized by the Joint Research Institute 4 Space at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics.

JRI4Space (Joint Research Institute 4 Space) is a brand institute acting as the main exchange forum between industry, research bodies, Skywin and the Walloon administration. Its ambition is to support the Walloon space ecosystem via the regional Space seeds Fund hosted at “Wallonie Entreprendre”, or the development of Start Ups with Galaxia Space Innovation.

JRI4Space :

  • brings together all the researchers working in the space sector in the universities of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and the Approved Research Centres.
  • coordinates with pre-qualifying, full and vocational training providers to train employees and talent for tomorrow's space sector at various skill levels. The latter will also benefit from cutting-edge training on the latest research findings.
  • aims to talk to all those involved in innovation (small and medium-sized enterprises, large groups). This interaction is essential to ensure that businesses in Wallonia benefit from the research carried out within the dome and, above all, express and communicate the challenges they face.
coordinates its actions with national and regional stakeholders.
