von Karman Institute Lecture Series
Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics 2025
20-24 January 2025
Sint-Genesius-Rode, Belgium (near Brussels)
About the lecture series
The lecture series on "Introduction to CFD" is designed to provide an elementary yet comprehensive tutorial on computational fluid dynamics. This course emphasizes the fundamental principles of CFD and surveys a variety of solution techniques applicable to flows ranging from low-speed incompressible to hypersonic.
Course Objectives:
- Insight into CFD Philosophy and Power: Understand the capabilities and significance of CFD in modern fluid dynamics.
- Understanding Mathematical Foundations: Gain a solid grasp of the mathematical equations governing fluid dynamics.
- Familiarity with Solution Techniques: Explore various computational methods and their practical applications.
Target Audience: This course is ideal for individuals with little or no prior experience in CFD, including recent graduates and professional engineers. By the end of the series, participants will be well-prepared to:
- Comprehend advanced literature in the field.
- Follow more sophisticated, state-of-the-art CFD lectures.
- Begin applying CFD techniques to their specific areas of interest, whether in aeronautics, industrial flows, wind energy, or other fields.
