David Weaver best student paper 2011

Alessandro Munafo, graduate student of Prof. Magin, has been awarded the David Weaver Best Student Paper in Thermophysics  during the 2011 42nd AIAA Thermophysics Conference held in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Alessandro Munafo, graduate student of Prof. Magin, has been awarded the David Weaver best student paper in Thermophysics for his work on "Vibrational state to state kinetics in expanding and compressing nitrogen flows" during the Awards Luncheon held in conjunction with the 27 - 30 June 2011 42nd AIAA Thermophysics Conference at the Hawaii Convention Center Honolulu, Hawaii. His co-authors are Marco Panesi (PECOS), Andrea Lani (VKI), Richard Jaffe (NASA Ames Research Center), David Schwenke (NASA Ames Research Center), and Thierry Magin (VKI).

The Thermophysics Technical Committee of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics may confer a Student Best Paper Award each year based on the following description: "The purposes of the Best Paper Award are to motivate participants in the sessions sponsored by the Thermophysics Committee toward excellence in technical content and presentation of papers and to recognize professional achievement by identifying one contribution as the best paper."
