Royal visit to mark a century of scientific research at VKI

On Tuesday 6 September, His Majesty the King visited the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics in the presence of Mrs. Ludivine Dedonder, Minister of Defence, and Mr. Thomas Dermine, Secretary of State for Strategic Investments and Recovery, responsible for Science Policy.

They had the opportunity to visit three of the VKI's flagship installations. A demonstration was given in a plasma generator used to test the thermal protection of space vehicles during atmospheric re-entry. They then discovered a low-speed wind tunnel used for environmental and microclimate studies. The event ended with a test on the shaking table used to produce seismic activity.

The general public had the opportunity to discover these laboratories during the open day on Saturday 10 September.
