The Short Course on UAVs and Small Aircraft Design took place on May 20-22, 2014 at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics (VKI) in Belgium and was a great success with around 130 participants. The Course was co-organized by Mr. Didier Breyne from OAD and Dr. Jean Muylaert from the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics.

    This first competition on the design of high-speed UAVs involved at the beginning 17 teams from over 100 students. After the first internal report, 13 teams were still in competition. The first prize was a wind tunnel test campaign in the Transonic / Supersonic facility at the VKI for the 3 first teams. The second price was a 20 license software ADS developed by the OAD. The third price offered by Willem Anemaat was a dedicated book by Dr. Jon Roskam entitled “Lessons Learned in Aircraft Design” for the third price. The teams in competition were coming from all over the world:
