PhD Subject

Develop a CFD based software for the accurate simulation of wind farms on both complex and flat terrains, including the presence of roughness and taking the most important uncertainties of the wind conditions into account. The CFD code will be OpenFOAM with modifications that include a new actuator model to accurately represent the wind turbines in both single and multiple wakes in several terrains, new boundary conditions to simulate the Atmospheric Boundary Layer and extension of the previous with uncertainty quantification via a non-intrusive polynomial chaos methodology.
