Delphine laboureurWe have the pleasure to announce that the Board of directors has appointed Dr. Delphine Laboureur as assistant professor in the VKI faculty, in the environmental and applied fluid dynamics department.

Delphine Laboureur graduated from the “Université Catholique de Louvain” in 2006, and followed the VKI Diploma Course in Environmental and Applied Fluid Dynamics the year after, which she graduated with honors and the price of Excellence in Experimental Research. After one year as customer service engineer at LMS International (now Siemens), she joined the PhD programme of VKI, working on industrial accidents (BLEVE and Boilover) in a research project funded by CEA Gramat. She received her PhD in engineering science from the “Université Libre de Bruxelles” in 2012.

She then moved to Texas from 2014 to 2015 to work as a research assistant at the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center (MKOPSC) at Texas A&M University on process safety related topics like LNG pool fires and dispersion, incident investigation, or offshore safety topics.

In 2016, she came back to VKI to work as a research engineer in the Environmental and Applied Fluid Dynamics Department where she works in topics like detonations in urban environment, nuclear safety (seismic testing), nanoparticle oxidation and ageing, or multi-phase agitation in stirring tanks. In parallel, she has been appointed adjunct faculty at MKOPSC where she mentors 4 to 6 PhD and master students.
