Japanese delegation from Tohuku University
On Monday February 24, 2014, the von Karman Institute had the pleasure to welcome a Japanese delegation from Tohuku University lead by Prof. Keisuke Asai, Department of Aerospace Engineering and Prof. Shigeru Obayashi, Institute of Fluid Sciences.
The aim was to reinforce the collaboration between the Institute and Tohuku University by stimulating future exchange visits by doctoral candidates.
The visit started with an introduction to the VKI, followed by a public colloquium with presentations by Mr. Takahiro Ukai on "Experimental Investigation of Combined Turbulence and Relaxation Effects" and Mr. Hiroyuki Asada on "Improvement of Cellwise Relaxation for Implicit Discontinuous Galerkin Scheme". On the VKI side, Prof. T. Arts presented a lecture on “Recent investigations on aero-thermal performance of gas turbine blades” and Dr. K. Bensassi on “CFD for hypersonic flow simulation”. Thoses presentations have been followed by a tour of the VKI facilities and labs.
